Man Make Music Carnival Special w/ Rustie, Jackmaster & more @ Rhythm Factory This Friday 22/08/08

On August the 22nd 2008 Man Make Music return for their annual carnival party at the Rhythm Factory. Last year’s event on the same weekend proved to be highlight of the summer with Mala, Soul Jazz & Trevor Loveys all blessing the decks and all bringing the house down. This time round we bring two equally worthy artists from the bass community Rustie and Jackmaster.

Rustie and Jackmaster have emerged in recent months as two of the UK’s most exciting talents on the underground dance music scene. Rustie’s crunked-up, synth-driven and slightly demented take on dubstep has earned him fans across Europe complimenting Jackmaster’s speaker-busting ghettofied selections of b’more, 80s and hip hop. Rustie has remixed for Alex Smoke of late and had released on Kode 9’s lauded Hyperdub imprint this year. Collectively the two of them have caned some of the biggest and best parties of the summer including prime-slots at Sonar and Fabric. Support comes from grime crew and Man Make Music favourites Scandalous Unlimited as well as MMM’s DJ Sketchy, Zaz and Another Amit.

Our boy Another Amit has put together a quick dubstep minimix consisting mainly of hyperdub and Martyn bits to get you in the mood- download it here

Bigup to Mr Weird over at brilliant music blog Get Weird Turn Pro for this Man Make Music post last week.

And check here for the rowdy Heatwave live set at MMM vs Bruk back in May. They smashed it!

Man Make Music Carnival Party Friday 22nd August

After breaking for the festival season we’re back again on one of our favorite dates of the year. Following on from last year’s Carnival Weekend road-block event with Mala, we’re coming correct again with two stars on the rise - Rustie & Jackmaster of Dre$$ 2 $weat. Rustie’s been putting out material on Hyperdub of late and been getting some serious props for some show stopping sets on the European festival circuit this year.

For this one we’re hooking up with Oxford based party crew Eclectric who’ve been putting on some of the strongest line-ups we’ve seen with parties involving Jesse Rose, Alter Ego, Brodinski and James Holden to name but a few. They’ll be bringing all their residents, the Union DJs and a couple of guys in Dinosaur suits to keep it fired up in the Room 2. Check them out at www.eclectricbeats.co.uk.

Fitzgerald’s “Man Make” Radiohead Remix

Mr Fitzgerald has just completed a smashing remix of Radiohead’s “Videotape” off their recent LP “In Rainbows”. Retaining the moodiness and melancholy of the original Fitzy shakes things up with an infectious tech-house feel - watch for the shuddering Moog bass-lines, f’in lovely!

Mixes Galore!!!

Festival season is now in full swing. The Secret Garden Party, where we co-host the Valley Of The Antic Stage, is just round the corner and we can’t wait. Just can’t re-iterate how good the little festival in Cambridgeshire is, so grab a ticket while you can.

Having gone through a dry patch earlier this year, we all seem to be making a lot of mixes now a days. Like girls or buses or whatever dance music mixes obviously come in groups. Here are a few from the MMM camp made / recorded /uploaded in recent weeks:

Noel Mas’ “Where Is Home Mix?” - click here to listen / download

We would have Another Amit’s peak-time destroyer of a mix, but he basically blew the recording device up with his devastating tune selection and mixing. Perhaps the greatest tribute to the finest display of the night is that it never be repeated! Catch it next time if you missed…
